Brain Map for Neurofeedback
Brain mapping is the first and vital step for healthy brain training.

A brain map is like a snapshot of what is going on in your brain. We record the magnitude of four different waves – Alpha, Beta, Theta and Delta – in 12 different areas. This creates graphs and maps which are then compared to extensive databases. From this, we can identify areas where symptoms you do not appreciate are likely being produced and suggestions to help you make changes. https://www.tadascounseling.com/brain-mapping/

A brain map does not diagnose in and of itself, but it is a key ingredient toward making a diagnosis. More importantly, it shows us how you can be helped. Many breathe a sigh of relieve as they see validation for the way they have been feeling, an explanation for their struggles.

Think of it this way – if you have a heart problem, wouldn’t you expect the cardiologist to run tests and take pictures of your heart and its function? How about your liver or stomach? An orthopedist perhaps with joints and bones? Then let’s ask – why we treat the brain without doing the same?

We can. At TADAS, we do.

Many symptoms can have roots in a variety of causes. A brain map helps us see what is going on and where. This is key to making a plan to move forward with treatment. Yet, we have been seeing “home neurofeedback units” available that promise results but do not first do a brain map. This is concerning. What if the protocol they send is not the right one? It could actually make things worse, and then you would be convinced that neurofeedback doesn’t work. But it does work – when it is approached correctly.

At TADAS, we do use home units, but first we do a full brain map. This has to be done in person. We go over the brain map with you in detail, discussing what was found. We help you determine what it is that you want to do after you see your map results. Then, we determine which protocol is right for you and monitor your progress every step of the way. In time, you may even want to do another brain map to track progress and adjust your training. As with any mental health therapy, once we treat the problem that brought you in, we may uncover something that was hidden below the surface. Carefully monitored neurofeedback combined with brain mapping can guide you through the process without guess work. https://www.tadascounseling.com/neurofeedback/

A lot of people are asking for help with anxiety and even panic that is escalating since the beginning of COVID, telling us that talk therapy is not helping, or not helping enough. Others come with symptoms of ADHD, but it may actually be underlying anxiety, trauma, or other core issues. Neurofeedback may be the right direction to go, but first, we would do a full brain map to see what is really happening. And if it is the right direction, we need to know which direction to take. One size does NOT fit all with neurofeedback! Your brain waves are as unique as your thumbprint. Your brain map will guide the way to diagnosis and treatment in a health, non-invasive manner. This is an excellent early step to take to improve mental health and overall daily functioning.
